💬 Help & FAQ

How can we help?

Quick answers about how Senderly keeps your files private.

Do I need an account?

No. You can send and receive files without signing up. An account is optional — it adds a dashboard to manage your transfers and an optional vault for file names.

How do I send a file?

On the home page, drag files or folders onto the send card (or tap to choose). Then pick how to send them: create a share link to send anywhere, or send straight to a device with In person or My devices. A basic link needs no account.

How do I receive files someone sent me?

Open the share link and download — nothing to install. For a In person transfer, open Receive, enter the sender's code (like SEND-4K2P9) or scan their QR, and the files arrive directly, device to device.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Senderly works in any modern web browser on desktop or mobile — no app or extension required. All encryption and decryption happen inside your browser.

Which browsers and devices work?

Any modern browser on desktop or mobile — no app or extension required. Encryption and decryption happen right inside the browser.

Is Senderly really private? Can you see my files?

No. Your files are encrypted on your device before they are uploaded, and the key lives only inside the share link — never on our servers. We cannot read your files, their names, or your keys. That is what "zero-knowledge" means.

What can Senderly see about my transfers?

Very little. Files and file names are encrypted on your device, so we can't read them. We only handle the minimum needed to deliver a transfer — such as size, number of files, expiry, and whether a password is set.

How do I know I'm connected to the right device?

For device-to-device transfers, Senderly shows a short security code on both screens. If the codes match, the connection is authentic and end-to-end encrypted. If they don't match, cancel and try again.

What happens if I lose the password I set?

The password protects the transfer and is never sent to us, so we cannot recover it. Share it separately from the link, and keep a copy somewhere safe.

Where are my files stored, and for how long?

Encrypted files are stored on Cloudflare R2 and deleted automatically at expiry (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days) or right after a one-time download. We don't keep copies. Device-to-device transfers don't touch our storage at all.

Is Senderly GDPR and PDPA compliant?

We handle personal data in line with Singapore's PDPA, and with the EU/UK GDPR where it applies to you. Because files are end-to-end encrypted, we can't access their contents. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How large can a file be, and how long does a link last?

You can send up to 15 GB per transfer. Links delete automatically — choose 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days when you create one.

Can I choose when a link expires?

Yes. When you create a link, choose 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days — the transfer is deleted automatically at expiry. You can also enable "delete after first download" for a one-time link.

Can I send whole folders, and how many files at once?

Yes — drag in whole folders and their structure is kept. You can send many files in one transfer, up to a total of 15 GB. Large batches are packed together for faster device-to-device sending.

What does "delete after first download" do?

It creates a one-time link: the transfer self-destructs the moment it is downloaded once. Preview is disabled for these links, because reading any part of them would destroy them.

Can files be previewed before downloading?

For most links, the recipient can preview images, text, and PDFs (and short video or audio) before downloading. Preview is disabled for one-time "delete after first download" links, because opening them would use up the single download.

How do I send to a device right next to me?

Use In person: create a short code (or QR) on one device and enter it on the other. Files go straight device-to-device, encrypted, without an account.

What's the difference between In person and My devices?

In person is for a one-off transfer to any device using a short code or QR — no account needed. My devices is for your own signed-in devices, which stay paired so you can send between them instantly without a code.

What is "My devices" and how do I pair my own devices?

My devices lets you send between your own signed-in devices without re-verifying each time. Pair a device once (from Settings or the pairing screen); afterwards transfers connect automatically, still end-to-end encrypted.

How do I log in on another device with a QR code?

On a device where you're already signed in, open "Log in on another device" to show a QR code. Scan it with the new device's camera and approve the request — you'll be signed in there without typing your password.

Can I transfer over my local network without the internet?

Yes. When both devices are on the same network, Senderly connects them directly over your local network for faster local transfers. Sharing is opt-in and the transfer stays end-to-end encrypted.

Nothing shows under "On this Wi-Fi" — how do I turn on discovery?

Discovery is opt-in and off by default. On both devices, open Senderly, choose "In person", and turn on visibility for this network — then make sure both are on the same Wi-Fi. Some networks (public, guest, or corporate Wi-Fi) keep devices apart or block local discovery, so nothing appears; that's normal. You never need it: share or enter a code like SEND-4K2P9, or scan the QR, and files go directly on any network, with no camera or network permission required.

Can I copy text or a link between my devices?

Yes. Universal clipboard lets you copy on one device and paste on another, end-to-end encrypted. Turn it on in settings on each paired device.

What is the vault, and what if I forget my passphrase?

The vault (a Pro feature) saves your real file names, encrypted, so they appear on any device you sign in to. Your passphrase never leaves your device — if you forget it, the saved names are lost for good, but your files stay reachable through their links.

What plans does Senderly offer?

Sending and receiving is free, with no account required. Paid plans — Plus, Pro, Team, and Enterprise — add higher limits, longer link life, the encrypted vault, and team features. See the Pricing page for the full comparison.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account from Settings; this removes your account data and saved (encrypted) file names. Any active transfers still expire on their own schedule. If you need help, contact us.

What happens if a transfer is interrupted?

Transfers can resume. If the connection drops or a tab reloads, Senderly picks up where it left off instead of starting over from zero.

My upload is stuck or failed — what should I do?

Check your connection and try again — transfers can resume from where they stopped instead of restarting. If a tab reloaded, reopen the same page to continue. Large files over a weak connection can be slow; a stronger or wired network helps.

The recipient can't open the link — what's wrong?

The link may have expired, reached its download limit, or been a one-time link that was already opened. If you set a password, it's required — share it separately. When in doubt, create a fresh link; we can't recover expired transfers.

How do I report abuse or send feedback?

Use the Report page. It is anonymous, and we still never see your files, names, or keys.
